How to configure WCF services using Web.config RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi. ..
I'm new to WCF. I'm developing a Client Server application using WCF. I want to configure the services using a Web.config file. Now i have created the web.config file and service.svc file.

In the doc which referred (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms733932.aspx), it says that Service.svc should put in to IIS virtual directory . I dont know about that derectory. Can any one say how to create that directory (or if it is already exist, where it is located.)

If anyone knows how to configure WCF service using web.config please reply this.(please give me step by step procedure).
    OS - Vista
    IIS version - IIS7
    .Net framework 3.5

    Thanks.

  • hi

    1. open IIS manager (adminstrative tools)
    2. Open the sites node
    3. Open default web site node
    4. right click on default web site node - select add virtual directory
    5. give the virtual directory an alias and point it at the physical directory of your .svc file

A virtual directory is a way of exposing web structure without it having to match the physical payout of your hard disk
