ASP.Net membership not working on azure RRS feed

  • Question

  • ASP.Net membership is not working on azure. I am getting the error "could not find the specified membership provider"

    Here is a screenshot :

    Database is on sql server not sql azure. It is working on localhost.

    Web.config setting :

    <membership defaultProvider="CustomMembershipProvider " >
          <providers>
            <add name="CustomMembershipProvider" connectionStringName="xxxxxxxxx"  type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider"   requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" minRequiredPasswordLength="3" requiresUniqueEmail="true" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0" applicationName="/"/>
          </providers>
        </membership>

    Any solution ?

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

    There is a new set of universal providers that are designed to work against SQL Azure. Scott Hanselman has ablog post and the relevant links here:

  • Hi,

    Have you created a SQL Azure database for the membership provider and set the connection string in web.config?
