SSDT or Visual Studio 2012 RRS feed

  • When developing package for SQL SERVER 2012.

    Is there any difference between using SSDT(build in SQL SERVER 2012) and Visual Studio 2012 ?

  • There is no difference Visual studio is simply a shell for other modules such as SSDT, Installing Visual studio will give you a few more modules such as Web or windows apps, installing SSDT will only give you the SQL tools such as SSIS, SSAS and SSRS but will exclude database projects.

    #BIDS, which was the 2008 version was its own stand alone product
