ClassicShell's Classic IE9 Component Seems to Work with IE10

    General discussion

  • I really like to see certain things we had in IE8, such as the security zone and progress bar, in my IE status bar.  I also like having the page title in the Title Bar, as I don't use tabs.

I've found that the ClassicShell "Classic IE9" component installs and works with IE10 in Desktop View, working around what I feel are more problems that have been caused by Microsoft's recent push for oversimplification.  To be clear, this is bringing back useful features that IE once had.

I haven't installed the Classic Start Menu or Classic Explorer components yet, because I am trying to seriously evaluate Windows 8 in its "natural habitat".

The good news is that, for now at least, Windows 8 and IE10 seem to allow enough 3rd party programming to be added-on that the desktop experience can be improved.
