Windows 8 connected standby S0i3 and S3 coexist RRS feed

  • Question

  • If a mobile PC supports connected standby, the power state would be active, connected standby, and shut down mode. And I browsed some informaiton saying "these devices can transition to S3 when necessary." I am curiious about whether windows 8 allows users to transition from S0i3 to S3. If possible, S0i3 and S3 coexist in the same system. and how does the system tell S0i3 and S3?

    I appreciate any feedback.

  • A system can support CS or S3, but it cannot support they both. It depends on the chipset choice. e.g. SoC BayTrail supports CS, while Haswell supports S3.
