ATLMFC not supporting SMP: What can we do? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In the Release Notes for Windows Embedded Compact 7 with Update 3, in the Development Known Issues section, it is said that "ATL and MFC Smart Device applications might throw an exception or stop responding when they are executed on a Compact 7 device that supports Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP)." It is then suggested to simply run the application on only one processor. I have searched the Internet extensively to find more details on the matter to no avail, so that's why I come here.

I want to know if there is there anything else we can do to prevent this issue? Are the particular circumstances subject to causing this issue known? If the problem lies only in a few select features of the library, I guess we could just make sure not to use them?
