Calling a Logic App within a Logic App RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a requirement where a particular process can be made common for many functional areas for the system. Is there a way I could call a Logic App from a Logic App?

    Thanks

  • Absolutely - a few ways you can do it.  I always tend to like just calling it from the HTTP Action.  This blog post goes into some detail about it:

  • I know this is a very old post in this world - that link no longer works, is there another link you could direct me to so I can get a better understanding how to use parent ( master workflow ) child ( Micro service ) design.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Echo5,

The consumption of children logic apps now is quite streamlined, as now you have a Azure Logic App connector. What you need to use the Azure Logic App connector is to have a Logic App with a manual request as a trigger. Then you can simply selected the Azure Logic App Connector as an action and choose your logic app from the list of logic apps shown, like in the example below:

    A couple of gotchas:

    1) Make sure that your logic app have a schema associated. Otherwise you will not have a way to pass parameters to it.

    2) Make sure that your logic app returns a response, even if it is just 200 OK. I am not sure if the adapter have improved in this regard (didn't test it lately), but originally it would give you some grief if your logic app didn't return a response.

    I hope this helps, Wagner.
