    we configure the web application as permissive + and configure the DOCICON.xml not to open in acrobat

    we also set in the preferences settings at on the search Results web part to open in browser

  • Hi Nati,

    Indeed this is strange behavior

    Can you check if PDF type is added to the Trusted (allowed) List for all Content Web Applications.

    Get the trusted (allowed) MIME Types for a specific Web Application by using below powershell.

    Get-SPWebApplication "http://yourwebapplicationurl" | Foreach-Object {$_.AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeTypes}

    If PDF is not in trusted type add it and see if result changes.

    Refer below link to add PDF type to trusted type

  • Hi Nati,

    Try to access search center > search results page, click Preferences button at the bottom of the page > choose Open in the browser option in the Opening Document in the browser field.
