Azure blob type for sql server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

im sure it's a simple question, but I couldn't find an answer in the forum.

im going to manually install sql server on a virtual machine.

its clear to me that the mdf files should not be stored on drive C or D.
I will attach a storage data disk to that vm for storing all the mdf and ldf files.

    1) what type of blob (block, page, else...) should that data storage be?

    2) in case of a disaster or malfunction, does the storage protects my data and resume the data after recovery?

    3) except from placing the mdf and ldf files on the external storage, does the sql server installation files should also be placed on the external storage or they can be installed on the C drive?

Please don't give me a link to sql cat msdn website for best practices for sql server, iv'e seen other threads here which point there, but couldn't find an answer there.

    Thank you in advance!
