Why does Workflow Manager try to authenticate with SharePoint by using its service account? RRS feed

  • Question

  • According to the installation and configuration instructions for setting up Workflow Manager, the service account that the Workflow Manager Backend service runs under (spWorkflowMgr in my case) should have no access to the SharePoint farm. Yet, my workflows - which are saved using an account I call spWorkflowUser - trigger an authentication request for spWorkflowMgr on my web front end when they execute.

Is this possibly because http (REST) requests back to the WFE are being called in the spWorkflowMgr context even though the workflow itself is saved as spWorkflowUser or is there some other basic rule of 2013 workflows I am missing?
