Unable to configure Azure AD Connect tool on new Windows Server 2012 Datacenter VM

    Question

  • Hi, Greetings for the day!

We are trying to configure Azure AD Connect tool on Windows Server 12 Datacenter VM (on client network) to sync profiles from on-premise AD to Azure AD. Tool has been installed successfully. When we try to configure sync with Custom or Express Settings approach, configuration fails with the following errors in event viewer. We are using an account with Enterprise admin privileges, an account with global admin privileges on Office365. And its a fresh configuration on new VM. We have tried uninstall/reinstall Azure AD Connect software, but no luck.

Please look into the issue and let us know the steps to resolve the issue.

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks

  • Make sure you have uninstalled the old version of DirSync on the computer where you want to install AAD Connect.

You can try the steps below:

    1.  Uninstall the Directory Synchronization Tool.
    2.  Uninstall all SQL Server files from the server.
    3.  Delete the following directories on the server:  %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Directory Synchronization and %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server folders.
    4.  Shutdown the server.

  • Hi Neelesh, Greetings for the day!

    Thanks for updates!

Just to let you know, its a new installation. We uninstalled tool and reinstalled it again. Its the same behavior, no change. We tried all possible trouble shooting techniques mentioned in the blogs/links in your previous response. It's the same behavior.

Please let me know if I need to verify any other things related to configuration.

    Thanks
