Which place is better? RRS feed

  • Question

  • After installing Azure AppFabric SDK v1.0. It places few binding extensions and their behavior in machine.config file. But I heard and read these should be in the app.config file of the app using those bindings only.

My question is whether these should be in the machine.config or app.config ?

  • Hi,

    Either will work.

If you have a server that is hosting services that use the bindings, then machine.config will be the best option, as you don't have to configure every application.

If you have an application that will be deployed to other servers, then app.config will be best, as the configurations may not be present in machine.config everywhere it is installed.
