Determine which of the following cases describes my driver model RRS feed

  • Question

  • Here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh454832(v=vs.85).aspx) are the driver models.

    And here my situation:

I have a camera. I have its vendor driver, and vendor dll. I can use dll-functions to create applications of video or image capturing.

I want to write a driver based on this dll functions, that will represent this camera to system in the way, that applications as Skype or Messenger can work with it easily (This camera must be available in camera list in settings)

So, help me to choose appropriate driver model for this idea.

  • Since the vendor.dll is a user space DLL the only thing you may be able to do is a UMDF driver.  I don't know enough about the requirements of Skype or Messenger to give details, but I suspect you need an AvStream model.

  • i don't think you need a driver at all. umdf can't be used to implement an avstream driver. pretty sure you need to create a directshow filter that reports the web camera.
