Facial recognition

In one project my customer wants to forget the authentication thru email and password and wants to use facial recognition. 

Anybody having experienced that ?

I don't have any experience with it personally, but I am sure that it presents quite a few challenges. For example, the browser would need access to the camera and the machine would have to have a camera, which would be a "hardware-hook" and generally outside the scope of a web application. You would likely need some type of applet like a Silverlight application to be able to access that information.

It appears there are a few facial-recognition libraries out there that you might want to consider checking out :

• StarTrinity Facial Recognition Libraries for ASP.NET, PHP and Silverlight
• Emgu CV: A cross-platform Computer Vision library that can be used within .NET
• SkyBiometry: A Cloud-based Facial Recognition and Detection library

Thanks for the links, I must searched with the wrong keyword as I didn't find any of them.

Yes you're right, challenges are around the corner. In my case it should be used by a limited amount of users so I should be able to control which sort of device people will be using.
