Recognition points are not multiples of 5

Question

Hi 

Until today, I am under a simple assumption that the recognition points will be calculated in the multiples of 5. 

Unfortunately, right now my recognition points are 3342 which is not a multiple of 5, I think the gallery contribution getting a 3 star rating is doing this. Am I correct.

Is the recognition points are not caliculated in the multiples of 5.

As you'll see real soon now, no, not everything is in multiples of 5. In forums everything is by just the values we ended up with but all other apps have other values.

I didn't see any values less than 5 in the FAQ.

There are ranges of points awarded for blogs and wiki milestones and we left them in the FAQ as ranges because they vary. The minimum for wiki contributions as an editor is 1 point. Also, ratings for blog posts and gallery contributions have +2 and -2 in them.

Is it possible to find out where these 'extra' points came from. I was having nice and round numbers, but just a few minutes ago I got one extra point, so I am wondering where this came from?

Naomi,

As Sean said above, there are several possibilities. Figuring out what you did when you got the points or what milestones were achieved on work you previously did... would help you nail down the answer to that question.

For example, did you edit a Wiki article? When that Wiki article reaches the first milestone, you might get just one point for that edit you made. So that could be it, especially since the milestone won't be captured in your profile (only in the profile of the original author).

I edited 2 or 3 WiKi articles. Most likely it's the one about achievements, as it seems like a 'hot' topic with many revisions :)
