sharepoint designer claims that office 2010 is the wrong version (32-bit or 64-bit) RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a vm running Server 2008 and sharepoint foundation 2010.  I also have office 2010 rofessional plus 64-bit pinstalled.

I downloaded from Sharepoint Designer 2010 64-bit from download.microsoft.com and saved it to the desktop.  When I try to install this I get the following error message:

"You can not install the 64-bit version of Office 2010 because you have the 32-bit Office products installed.  These 32-bit products are not supported with 64-bit installations:
Microsoft Office Access database engine 2007 (english)
    ..."

But, I don't have office 2007 installed (Access or anything else).  I checked programs inside of control pannel and office 2007 is not listed.

So,  I tried downloading the 32-bit version of Sharepoint Designer 2010 and it complains that I have the 64-bit version of office installed.

    What gives?

  • Most likely you downloaded and installed the fix for the datasheet view in SharePoint 2010 and office 64 bit. This is 32 bit (the component referenced above). What you can do is un-install Microsoft Office Access database engine 2007 from control panel (It should be listed), install SPD 64 bit and then re-install the Microsoft Office Access database engine 2007.
