recovery from Availability zone RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have created couple VMs in Azure with enabled availability zones.

I was not able to find any information about disaster recovery if data-center (zone) that hosts our VMs will go down?

Is disaster recovery process manual or automatic?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

If you're running your VMs across two or more Availability Zones within an Azure region and are load balanced, the process is automatic. Please note that in Azure, Availability Zones is a high-availability construct. We recommend region-pairs for disaster recovery purposes.

  • Hi,

I don't think they are load balanced as all I did during VM creation just selected "3" in Availability Zone option.

Now if I go to Virtual Machines blade and select MyVM I see Availability zone "3" in MyMV Overview section.

I guess this mean MyVM is deployed and replicating to 3 zones in same region?

    Thanks
