sending raw data to printer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I followed the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322091/en-us to send the raw data to printer. I could print in RICOH Aficio SP 4100N PCL 6 but could not print the same in HP Color LaserJet 3600. I tried .ps, .pdf files but still i could not print in HP printer. HP printer prints just one line that looks like "%!PS-Adobe3.1 %Title %Creator %Creation Date". The environment i am working on is .NET 4.5 and code behind is C#.

    What would be the issue?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

    I followed the KB document and created a Windows Forms Application to reproduce this issue.

    When I click Button 2, it prints “Hello” in paper. It works fine on my end.  The result is shown in the following figure,

    Here is my working environment:

    .NET Framework version: 4.5.50709;

    IDE: Visual Studio Ultimate 2012 with update 4;

    Printer: HP LaserJet 600 M602;

    OS: Windows 8 Pro 64bit;

    For this issue, I am afraid that it is caused by Printer Setting. So I recommended you to contact Printer provider directly, I think they can give more precise troubleshooting.

    BTW, I uploaded the project on SkyDrive. You can download from here. You can use this project to test your Printer.

    If you need future assistance, please feel free to let me know.

    Have a nice time!

    Sincerely,

  • Hi Jimmy,

        I tried it out. I think i can print the string "Hello". What about the SendFileToPrinter function. What i am trying is i am getting raw data in .pdf or .ps format through SOAP response from web service. And i need to send the data to printer. I could print the raw data using the program (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322091/en-us ) in RICOH Aficio SP 4100N PCL 6 but could not do the same in HP Color LaserJet 3600.

    Any idea?

    Thanks!

    For this issue, I SUGGEST that you would post this thread on WCF forum. Please refer to the link below,

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?forum=wcf

    Where you can contact many experts about this topic. Since this forum is just to discuss WPF development issue.

    Thanks for your understanding!

  • If you cannot print in a specify Printer, please check the printer setting first.
