Metro Apps do not launch on 1024X600 screens.

    General discussion

  • I am aware that the minimum requirement is 1024X768, but is this necessary? I really think MS should reconsider this.

    1) Since metro apps are full screen they should be designed to work on small screens. The whole concept of fullscreen is to be usable on small screens. On a huge HD screen the space occupied by the tasbbar is negligible.

    2) My netbook handles the apps with a (troublesome) hack. If I plug an external monitor, then start an app and remove the external monitor, most apps run fine at 1024x600.

    3) Many netbooks with this resolution have been sold (and are still being sold)

  • Officially, the minimum supported resolution for Metro-style apps is 1024x768 and a minimum resolution of 1366x768 is required to use the Snap functionality. Registry hacks are not guaranteed to work in all configurations and are not recommended.
