Queuing tiles - how to adjust rotate rate RRS feed

  • Question

  • With Metro Style App tiles, we can "queue" up to 5 notifications to be displayed on a tile so that one is shown after the other in a round-robin fashion.

Is there a way we can adjust the rate, i.e., the time one notification is given to stay on the foreground, when they rotate.

  • Hi Peleus,

No, you cannot change the rate (this is controlled by the system).  Is there a compelling reason to have the rate different for your app, or were you just asking out of curiosity?

  • Thanks jpsanders,

I just observed the rotate rate of different tiles (tiles of the apps built-in in the developer preview) are different, though slightly. After your reply, I guess what I'm seeing can be a situation where the difference comes from the timing differences occur in a low priority thread and time calculation differences (I presume tile rotation implementation is running on a low prio thread).  No, I don't have a compelling reason, it was mostly out of curiosity. But thanks much for explaining otherwise i'd be pulling my hair on this one :-)
