To debug Metro style application you need to use the Visual Studio preview (Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Express for Windows Developer Preview) that is installed on the Windows 8 Developer preview which you can download from:

I downloaded the 32 bit version of metro, I also downloaded windows live for my email, I get an error message: ESENT, no debugger installed on this machine, please install one now. So I downloaded the visual studio/windows7 debugger program, and I still get the message...thank you for the previous help.

What specifically are you trying to debug?

Hello guys.
just to be sure, are you saying that I can only debug win 8 JS metro apps if I'm running win 8 developer preview with tools? Any specific reason for not allowing me to debug those apps from within vs 2011?
thanks.

Hi Luis,
For the preview, that is the only configuration supported.
