user friendly solution for using ad-hoc wi-fi networks in Window 8? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We sell data collection software that needs to be able to connect with instruments in the field via wi-fi without an access point (mobile, no wall sockets, etc).  But Windows 8 hides ad-hoc support.  The common solution of entering netsh commands at a command prompt is not acceptable for users (or tech support!).  Is there any way to turn on ad-hoc support in the UI, or must we write our own interface?

    Thanks
