Should I restart the SQL Server service after changing a role in SQL Server 2008? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Should I restart the SQL Server service after changing a role in SQL Server 2008?

Apparently the users added to a new role (sysadmin or other) or changed/updated did not get immediate access, is it correct(expected?)?

As it is on Production servers it needs a Change Control so I would like to confirm.

    Thanks,

    Dom

  • Hi

No need to restart SQL Server, however your user has to logoff/login from SQL to see these changes.
