Is there a way to write to OneDrive folder while offline?

    Question

  • Hi

My current implementation in an app is ask user permission to create a folder for the app in their OneDrive and read/write files there.  The user has to be online to do this.  Is there a way to access the same OneDrive folder on the file system while the user is offline without the filepicker?  Since the app have permission to use OneDrive, can the app use the OneDrive folder while offline?

No, you cannot. If you want to access the OneDrive folder in file system like “C:\Users\xxxxx\OneDrive”, the app consider this folder as a common folder, you cannot access it without filepicker. If you want to access this folder while offline, it’s recommend ask end-user to choice. See more guidelines for accessing OneDrive from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/dn263258.aspx.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any concerns.
