forgot certificate key! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am moving the Workflow Manager to a new server. I installed the workflow manager on the new server, however when I am joining to the existing workflow manager farm, it is asking for the certificate key. The team that set up the original workflow manager cannot find the certificate key. Is there a way to get the key or register a new key using PowerShell similar to when you forget the Farm Pass-phrase. If not, what would be a possible work-around or solution?

  • Hi airziarry_1

As far as I know, there is no way of resetting a new key for workflow certificates. However considering that you want to move, you can recover the Workflow Farm with entire new set of credentials that are defined during Restore-SBFarm, Add-SBHost, Set-SBNameSpace -ManageUsers, Restore-WFFarm and ADD-WFFarm.

  • Based on my research it is not possible to get the password out of the box.  You may have to look for third part software but below post suggest that you can export it again with new password

Try it out and install the cert to new server and try to select it during workflow manager installation step.

You can also change the certificate before adding the new server.  Check the links below.

    See what's fit your need.
