vm role (VHD) behaves differently RRS feed

    1. Created the virtual machine

    2. Installed SQL server 2008 R2 and Biztalk 2009

    3. Prepared the VHD and uploaded to portal and configured the VM role and role is in ready status

    4. I want to uninstall sql server 2008 R2, biztalk 2009 and would like to install SQL server 2008 and Biztalk 2009

    5. So i took the remote machine of VM role and done with the corresponding uninstallation and installation

    But when i try to see the installation chnages, it is not reflected.

    Please suggest what needs to be done.

    Azure VMs are stateless. You should either prepare either prepare a new base vhd with the products you want and replace the reference in your service model to this new vhd or configure new vhd as differntial disk.

    Because azure VMs are stateless, they may revert back to the original uploaded base image when they are re-provisioned.
