VS2015 Update 2 Install Fails on Win10 RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is the second time in three weeks VS2015 has hosed me! The first time I was running Win8.1 and VS2015, when I attempted to update VS 2015 to update 1 the install failed at the Team Explorer point. I tried every suggestion I could find and none worked, after days of screwing around with it I formatted the C drive and installed Win10 and then spent two days re-installing all the application I use. Lastly I installed VS2015 Update 1 and it worked without error. Today I tried to upgrade to VS2015 Update 2 and the very same errors appeared during the install. Team Explorer failing with error codes that suggest a corrupt msi file. I again did the delete cache, downloaded the ISO, checked the sha-1 hash, checked the vc_redistributables - nothing is fixing this issue. Its really total bullsh*t that someone at MS can't get to the bottom of this! I am finding hundreds of posts with the same issue and only a handful seem to find resolution with these suggestion and I really DON'T WANT TO RE-INSTALL WINDOWS to get this working. I don't even use team explorer is there a way to bypass it? VS2015 is unusable it just hangs at the start page.

Actually team explorer is installed with VS, you couldn't pass by it.

Besides,in order to narrow down the problems of VS setup, there are some tips about installing VS:

    1. Disable anti-virus or anti-spyware software.
    2. Check windows update.
    3. Clear %TEMP% folder.
    4. Run the installer as administrator.
