C# EWS and outlook web access ( multiple emails ) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I need some help with EWS ( using c# net 3.5, vsto 2010 pro. win7, owa 2010/2007)

    background:

My application reads email from Exchange using EWS. My user confirmed that he always creates/composes new email everytime.

but when I look at outlook web access ( as received email that my user sent) it is some how "grouped" together, rather than individual emails, also when I read it via EWS, it also shows multiple emails, and therefore my program reads all those attached emails, anyone know how get rid of all the other attached email?

what I could do is just sort by time and get the first one, but I would like to know why even those are grouped together when user created/compsed new email every time ?

  • This doesn't seem to have anything to do with VSTO Office addns, the topic of this forum.

For EWS questions you are better off posting in an EWS forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdevelopment/threads

  • I don't frequent that group, so I have no idea about the traffic there. But you aren't providing enough information for anyone to be able to answer your question in either forum.

First of all, you need to check the view in OWA and see how items are sorted and grouped. If it's by subject or by conversation topic or even by conversation that could explain grouping of items with similar subjects.

Second, and there's no expertise for that here really, is what code are you using in EWS to retrieve items? You say you read emails using EWS and multiple emails are returned but you provide no usable details of how you're retrieving the items.

in case anyone has any idea why outlook-web access has those grouped ?

is it b/c the subject is same ? or anything ?
