Suggestion for Spec Validation RRS feed

  • Question

  • These documents are prominently marked as preliminary.  I get that.  However, there is something MS can do to verify the accuracy and clarity of the these protocols.

Take a few interns, of which there is a small army at MS, hand them each one of the specs and have them build working code from it.  This would go a long way towards verification of the documents.  Heck, you might even come up with some interesting samples to publish.

  • Hi Gregory, Thanks for your post regarding verification of the protocol specifications. The following white-paper (http://research.microsoft.com/users/wrwg/ICST08.pdf) describes the approach we use to verify some of the protocol specifications. Thanks for the feedback regarding the value of additional examples. We’ll certainly consider your feedback as part of our continuing evaluation of the Protocol specification improvements. Thanks.
