System.Data.OracleClient Application blocked by connection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

We implemented a windows service on a windows 2003 cluster server.

The service has access to a remote Oracle 10gR2 Database on a Sun/Solaris server.

To access the Oracle Database the service uses microsofts System.Data.OracleClient and .Net Framework 2.0

We have had two issues recently where the service (Application) was blocked in the middle of a transaction to the remote Oracle database. The service did no more return. It was blocked (until the service was restarted).

Following the Log File of the service a transaction has been opened, and the data should be processed.

(In the same time we had a Network issue in our company Network. A backbone Switch went off.)

In this case the service (ADO .Net Framework) should return an exception to notify about the problem. But the service just did nothing. It was blocked until it has been restarted.

Does anyone know about a problem like this?

Is there a Service Pack for .Net Framework 2.0?

We had also the issues mentioned in this article and fixed them.

But why did we have to, it was fixed in .Net Framework 1.1 ?

    Thanx for Help
