How do I search other fields in Access Web App RRS feed

  • Question

  • I know that when you use the search box in a list view in an Access 2013 web app, it only searches the primary and secondary fields that you configured for the sidebar that is below the search box.  But what if I want to search other fields?  I understand the basics of macros but I don't know specifically how to get my web app to search fields in a list view other than the fields that are configured in the designer.  Any help would be appreciated (or if you could point me to a resource, that would be great).  Thanks.

    Hi,

No. The search box searches all fields that are present in the view.

The problem is the other way round: How to restrict the fields to search in?

The only trick I know of is that you can search 1 particular field by typing its name into the search box followed by a colon and the search term, e.g.

    LastName:bear

    cu

  • Okay, I see what the problem was, I was using a subview and I guess it can't search the controls that are within a view in the subview control.  Thanks for the tip on how to search individual fields.
