Legacy Applications in Metro Style - Are legacy applications also paused to save resources when not in use? RRS feed

  • Question

  • From my BUILD I have learn instead of existing Metro apps , applications are paused to save resource. Now what happens if I open legacy application such as messenger and running on background.. Will it be paused or running in background? Will this effect multitasking?

As any Win7 application will be opened from Metro Style UI, will Win7 applications will too be paused or this application to new applications?

  • Hey there,

I did a test and ran Metro styled Applications with legacy styled apps, then went into task manager to check. Metro styled apps can be suspended by the OS, where legacy apps will act as how they would act in Windows 7, run as a process, taking up some CPU cycles.
