Error testing data source connection on Office 365 Power BI admin center RRS feed

  • Hi all,

    I have configured a Gateway with a single instance and a data source on an Office 365 PowerBI site.

    Everything seems to be fine:

    • On Office 365:
      • Gateway status is “Running”
      • Instance status is “Running”
      • Data source status is “Ready”
    • On the database server (SQL Server instance on a VM stored on Azure):
      • “Microsoft Data Management Gateway Configuration Manager” is installed and the service is started.
        • Gateway key status: “Registered”
        • Service status: “Started”

    When I test the data source’s connection from O365 Power BI admin center I get the following error:

    Test connection has failed. Please check Windows Event Log for the Gateway Instance (xxxxxx) errors. Tracing ID: 0becbf59-3c47-4cea-bedc-1a56ecf6acee

    I have checked the Windows Event Log on the database server without finding anything relevant. I must be missing something and I do not know what it is.
