    This error occurs frequently:-
    'project..... could not be opened because the Microsoft Visual Basic.Net compiler could not be created. Cannot find the .Net Framework directory: System error &H80131700&'

    I have .Net Framework 1.1 and beta2 istalled.
    I am using VS.Net 2002 Pro and VS Web Dev 2005 Beta2 with C# and VB.

    Any assistance woulfd be gratefully appreciated.

    You will be able to overcome this problem by installing .NET Framework 1.0

    Since you are using Visual Studio .NET 2002 that doesn't use .NET Framwork v1.1.4322 you are receiving this problem.

    Thank you  Narayana for your help. I originally had ver1.0 installed but was under the impression that VS2005 was the default.
