Sudden issue with Classic ASP site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Supporting a Classic ASP web site for a non-for-profit.

Ran a database update process from a text file two nites ago without issue.

    Last nite process failed.

    Isolating issue, there appears two.

One, an objFSO.OpenTextFile or ReadAll function appears to corrupt file contents to contain a number of characters including a large amount of Chinese making file unusable.

Two, bypassing textfile updating and using an ADODB textfile connection string appears to not return any data.

Has MS dropped support of classic textfiles in classic ASP VBscripting.

Additional point, file contents are different than for prior nites as additional data has been added to text file by parent organization, but would not think that would cause such an issue.

Need help understanding where to look as objFSO process has nothing to do with data definition or content.

FSO code with debug stmnts included follows:

'    If objFSO.FileExists(DBPath) Then            'Update file has been uploaded and not processed
    '        Response.Write "File Exists<br>" & vbCrLf
    '        Set f = objFSO.OpenTextFile(DBPath,1,false,0)
    '        strFile = (f.ReadAll)
    '        Response.Write strfile
    '        Response.Flush
    '        strFile = Replace(strFile, vbLf, vbCrLf)
    '        Set f = objFSO.OpenTextFile(DBPath,2,false,0)
    '        f.Write(strFile)
    '        f.Close
    '        set f = nothing
    '        set objFSO = nothing
    '    Else
    '    End If

At point of Response.Write strfile, the file content is corrupted.
