TFS publish task RRS feed

I do not know if this is right forum for TFS tasks of CI and CD.

I have created CI and CD using TFS 2017. I have created the build and publish task. I have set up the release task using IIS web Deploy. It is all working without errors. Basic steps nothing fancy. In one server I have two TFS agents deployed, one for build and one for release. In two different folder and running as two windows service.

There is one problem. My solution has two projects one MVC application and one Api Project. I want to publish only the MVC application.

In the build output, I have 9 files. api.deploy.cmd, mvc.deploy.cmd, one zip file webapp.zip which has both api and mvc release dlls in separate folders, some xml files.

All the build files are copied to Release task agent \ drop folder.

But the api project is deployed to IIS site directory. I want MVC project to be deployed.

How to achieve this? I do not know why it is picking up api project.

I solved this problem by creating a separate build configuration and ignored the api project from the build configuration. Used this build configuration instead of default "Debug" / "Release"
