How to Deploy HTML Reports from Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello:

I'm working in a mixed-platform environment.  We have Mac computers (yes, they don't run Access) and regular PC's.  Is there a way that I could deploy reports from the PC-based Access systems to a website so that the reports could be viewed as HTML from the Mac side of the company?  Or, how about putting PDF reports out on a website so that the Mac users can see the reports?

All data entry and the execution of the Access macros will be done at the PC level.  No data entry will be from the Mac environment, but they need to view the reports, either in HTML or as PDF's.

Any ideas on the best way to accomplish this?  Are there any other options that I'm missing?

    Thanks,

  • Hi Rich,

Yes, reports can be exported to HTML files (one file per report page). You can also create a template HTML file if you want it to look a certain way.

What do you mean by "deploy" from a website? If you have a HTML file, you just upload it to a web server, and the user just enters the URL in the browser to view the page.

    Hope it helps...

  • Hi Rich,

Not sure I understand the problem. Surely you know how to export a report to PDF or HTML, correct? If so, are you asking us for recommendations on how to create a website? Can't the Mac people access a network folder where you can store the PDF/HTML files?

Thanks for the reply.  I am aware of the ability to export to a PDF file, and yes, it would be a snap to put the reports on a server drive.  I'm just wondering if there is a way to deploy it from a website.  Can a report be exported as HTML?  I don't have Access in front of my at this moment.

    Thanks,
