MS Project Server 2010 customized workflows RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are creating custom workflow (project Cancellation) in VSTS 2010 for MSPS 2010. We are trying to associate that workflow to a button or link. How can we achieve this?

Or is it that - custom workflows can be attached to list or site only?

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Anuja,

    What is workflow doing?

A project workflow in Project Server is not started via a button. You have to create an EPT (Enterprise Project Type) and associate to it your custom workflow once deployed. In addition you'll associate (eventually) to your EPT a project template and a site template.

Then from the project center, clicking on new, you'll have the list of all configured EPTs. If the chosen EPT has a project workflow, then creating a project with this EPT will start automatically the workflow.

    See some references below:

  • Hi Guillaume,

    Thanks for your reply.

We do not want the workflow to be initiated while project creation. That's why we don't want to associate with EPT.

The workflow is for project cancellation. When user cancels any particular project in Project List, it goes for 1st level approval. Once approved, project status is changed to cancelled.

Also, not to forget that Project center is not list of projects but every project is separate site.

So it needs to be associated with button or link.

Please let me know your inputs. Thanks.
