Company-wide management of Windows Developer Licenses

    Question

  • Hi,

We're a moderately large company (250+ developers), and when we move fully to Windows 8 development we're going to have a very large number of machines that will need to acquire and regularly renew developer licenses.

At the moment it only seems to be possible to acquire or renew a developer license with direct access to the machine itself, and our technical services department are concerned about the amount of time it will take them to manage licenses individually for this many machines. Are there any plans to provide a method of managing developer licenses en masse? If not, what is the recommended process for managing this many licenses?

    Thanks.

  • +1 on it.
Is there a way, we can manage developer licenses for a team of developers, giving and revoking licenses to individuals as they move in and out of the team.

  • Hi Hamid,

Developer Licences are per machine. You don't need to grant and revoke them to individual developers. If your devs are machine admins they can manage the licences themselves. If not, then take a look at Q2871280 Hotfix enables developers to obtain a developer license for ... to simplify management via group policy.
