HttpClient to download a file from a REST URL in Windows 8.1 Store apps

    Question

  • Hi,

I would like to use HttpClient to download a file from a REST URL. Is there a specific way to download the file. I used this function as specified here (http://www.kunal-chowdhury.com/2013/04/win8dev-tutorial-async-file-download.html) but it gives a Error 404 Bad Request.

Does that method work for REST or not. If not please let me know any other technique to download the file. I do not want to use BackgroundTransfer for this since there seems to be an issue with the size that is permitted to be downloaded.

    Thanks,

    Rajesh.

  • Hi Rajesh,

HttpClient is the correct thing to work with REST service.

However error 404 bad request means your request url is not correct, please double check it.
