How do we use Regex function in LUIS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, Actually I'm unable to figure out how to get regex function of LUIS worked. Nowhere in the sample videos or documentation, it is given that how to use this functionality. Please let me know step by step procedure to do so. Plus action & parameter thing of LUIS doesn't work. If I have to write separate code for it then there is no use of doing all this stuff.

  • I don't see actions in the new UI though.

Regex is explained in GItHub samples!

I guess you would have figured that out by now already.

  • Actions via LUIS has been deprecated and was moved to the BotBuilder SDKs to give developers greater control. The links LogRCubed provided are good sources for info on pattern features.

To paraphrase it, the patterns are not machine learned, and they cannot be implemented in training your bot. (i.e. you can't point at and say this is an IP address pattern, remember this) What you do is you implement a custom entity (potentially a composite entity to account for tokenization), and label utterances that match your pattern feature as that custom entity. Eventually your model will look at items that match the pattern and if you've trained your model correctly it will associate it with the custom entity created.
