  • Question

  • Hi,

We want to migrate SQL 2000 server with SP4 in to Windows 2008 64 bit server (O.S.). Will SQL 2000 work on 64 bit of windows 2008 server.  And if it works, it shouldn't be a Itanium Processor 64 bit win 2008 server. Am i right ?

    Could any one reply.  thanks,

  • AFAIK, this is not supported. You might be able to get it installed but there's no guarantee it won't get up and walk away or chase your neighbor's cat when you're not looking. ;-)

Upgrade to SQL Server 2008 or run your SQL Server 2000 on Windows Server 2003.

Also, SQL Server 2000 only supports IA64 or x86 but you can run the x86 version on an x64 box.
