VBA codes in Excel 2016 for dropdown list not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have VBA codes for choosing items from combobox drop down lists in my Excel file which were working fine until  12 April 2018. After this date, when double clicking, the list appears, but when selecting an item, nothing happens, and the old value continue to be displayed.

  • Hi PleaseHelp999,

    You had mentioned that," when double clicking, the list appears, but when selecting an item, nothing happens, and the old value continue to be displayed."

    I try to make a test on my side and find that Combo Box control is working fine.

    Private Sub ComboBox1_Change()
    Me.Range("H1").Value = Me.ComboBox1.Value
    End Sub

    Private Sub Worksheet_Activate()
    Me.ComboBox1.AddItem ("one")
    Me.ComboBox1.AddItem ("two")
    Me.ComboBox1.AddItem ("three")
    Me.ComboBox1.AddItem ("four")
    Me.ComboBox1.AddItem ("five")

    End Sub

    Output:

    Here, I want to confirm with you that , Did you get any error?

    If yes, Let us know about that, it will help us to narrow down the issue.

    Some possible reasons for combo box to not working are,

    (1) Some one change the code and you are not aware about it.

    (2) Something get corrupted in your Workbook.

    (3) Some Office related or Windows related update affect your code.

    At present, We don't have exact idea about your code.

    You can try to provide a detail information about your code. We will try to reproduce the issue on our side.

    Then we can try to provide a suggestions to solve the issue.

    To troubleshoot the issue, You can try to put the break point on your event code of Combo Box and try to debug the code to check for a root cause.

    Regards

    Deepak
