Dot net framework, and existing dot net apps that use registry RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have existing dot net 3.5 sp1 apps that use the registry
they access different parts of the registry depending on if the OS is 32 bit or 64 bit
Opon installing Dot Net 4 beta 2, these apps fail to function correctly, as they can now only access 32 bit parts of the registry.

  • You're most likely compiling the applications to target x86 explicitly.  This will make the applications run as a 32bit application on both 32bit or 64bit Operating systems.  You probably were targetting AnyCPU before.

  • Existing app, not recompiled.
yes said apps make use of anycpu, they have to, in order to make use of features eg determining if the OS is 64 or 32
