smart home automation in visual studio 2013

Hello
I want to write an application in visual studio 2013 that handle smart home automation / controlling light - security camera and sensor - music devices and television - get information about weather \ . this application will be /server - client / application . for server I will use windows server 2012 and for clients it will run on windows, ios , android .
in server side I will use arduino microcontroller.

how to write this kind of application.

Thank you for reply. I know that my question is too broad. I want to know the principles and technologies that I can use it to do that . what is the steps and protocols in visual studio 2013 for both side /server-client/ to do that in general.
