Extended Stored procedure DCOM scenario RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are trying to call a COM EXE written in C++ running in Windows XP machine (Machine A) from a SQL Server 2005 (running in windows XP, Machine  B) stored procedure using extended stored procedure (sp_OACreate etc). We have set up DCOM related permissions in both the machines. Still we are getting permission related problems (Runtime error 70 - Permission denied).

Please suggest the way out, thanks.

  • Moinak,

Run the stored procedure under the security context that can run COM EXE.
The best way is to :

Logon to SQL Server under a domain account  Domain/jdoe  (Make sure you add that account to SQL Login and subsequent database)
Add that user Domain/Jdoe to local users of Machine A.
