Local Machine wide Visual Studio RootSuffix registration. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have read so many articles about integration and yet i did not found solution for my problem.

I want to integrate my VS Package to custom RootSuffix, but this integration should be common for

whole machine and not only for current user. Is it possible at all ?

    Beforehand thank you for help.

  • Hi Michael,

    Thanks for your post.

I just checked the registry editor, I could find the VSPackages registered in

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0Exp

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0Exp

But I cannot find a directory like

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0Exp

Which means VSPackages are not registered to local machine,

I've consulted, and an expert of VSX said:

There is no machine wide experimental instance registration in Dev10. You have to deploy in current user location to target experimental instance.

If I misunderstand your issue, be free to let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Ziwei Chen
