How to read a excel sheet data? RRS feed

  • Hi all,


    I want read excel sheet data from excel sheet and write into a sharepoint custom list programmatically.

    The custom list has the same no. of columns(also data type) that of excel sheet column.


    Please help me how to do that.

    You can programatically talk to SharePoint via the managed object model.  You can find details on it here:



    You will want to look at the SPSite, SPWeb & SPList objects to insert data into a List.


    I am not sure about programatically reading in the Excel data ... possibly it would be easiest to Save the spreadsheet as a CSV and then read that in line by line.
