LCD text is not displaying correctly for WINCE7 with AM335x? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear friends,

As, I am using Am335x BSP with WInce7 and I am testing it for 4.3 inch LCD touch screen. The same LCD is working fine on LINUX BSP. But with WINCE7 it not working properly.

When I say not working properly, it means the font or text is not displaying properly on the screen.

Here I am sharing some captured shots so that it is clear that what is the issue with text...

AS, the desktop icns text is very much fine.

  • Looks like font smoothing is missing. can you add these registry settings in platform.reg and try again.

      ;For Font Smoothing and cleartype

    ;end Font Smoothing and cleartype

Please mark as answer, if it is correct.

  • Dear Friends,

    Hello Vinoth,

After adding the above entries, I got no success.

As, I would like to share something imp that the same LCD is working fine on LINUX platform and 7 inch LCD is working fine with the same WINCE source code where I am trying to test 4.3 INCH LCD

  • Same WinCE code can't work for both the LCD's. You normally change LCD parameters.

I think you need to check Clock, Hsync and Vsync parameters of 4.3" LCD.

  • Dear Friends,

    Thanks Seeth.

Obviously, it should be added. and what I remember I added for 4.3 and same parameters are added in the linux source code.

  • If the workspace you are using are same then only those parameters would matter in it.

I think you can double check the parameters of Linux and WinCE. Also in Linux test for long time if the same issue exists there.

  • Hi,

We have already checked all the things properly. and the same wince source is working fine with another board for 4.3 inch LCD selection.

  • Ok.. Good news!

    Then either board/LCD has issue.

WinCE after immediate booting issue is occurring or after some time?

    In Linux how you tested?

  • After immediate booting. Even that on calibration screen some text is written and its also not readable properly.

  • How you tested in Linux

  • I tested in LINUX with after running all GUI application and I confirmed that the text/font was displaying properly in LINUX.

I agree with you, this is not a simple parameter problem. It is very unusual, and therefore it will be tricky to solve.

The last tome I saw something similar, it was an address map problem.

  • Dear Developers,

Bruce, could you please elaborate the address map issue so that we can have an idea to solve the issue.

  • Yes, check your address map to see if it is correct.

One test would be to move the display buffer to another location to see if the problem still exists.

  • Try to disable the Composite windows in catalog, it maybe can solve your problem.
