  • Have you made changes to the configuration files? BtsNTSvc.exe.config or BtsNTSvc64.exe.config

Are you using 64bit host instances for 32bit only adapters

are all designated BizTalk jobs running without error (SQL Server Job agent)

Did you run BPA (BizTalk Server Best Practices Analyzer) after installation? Otherwise do it now (might reveal the cause)
Instal BHM (BizTalk Health Monitor) and create an Analyze Report

  • Please confirm, all you see in the Event Log is the Information message saying the Host Instance has stopped?

    No errors or other warnings?

  • Hi John,

Yes that is right! It just says host instance is stopped! We don't see any other warnings or errors!

  • My feeling is that there some process you are currently unaware of that is stopping the Services, rather than an internal error.

The problem is this can come from any place and any agent with the right permissions.  Did you check the other logs to see if there's any corresponding activity?

  • Check if the AV on your servers is detecting BTSNTSVC64.exe as anti-virus activity and shutting it down ??

    Regards.

  • Vipin - it seems like permission issue with your Windows and service Account setup which needs to have proper credentials. You need to be an administrator and have this credentials properly set for the host instances to be stable. Check your BizTalk administrators group to make sure you are part of that group when assigning or creating this host instance.

I experienced this issue, and I looked up all this and fixed it. Then was able to run host instances with stability

  • When the BizTalk binding files corrupt you will have host instance stopped with the error in the eventlog as": Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. " This will be an error  in the eventlog

If there is no error in the eventlog, means some other external service stopping the host instance. In this case, your host instance has not abruptly failed, it was planned failure (as stopped by an external service) so it's not an error, hence no error eventlog just an information log.

Any abrupt fail/stop of the host instance will cause eventlog error otherwise it will be an information log in the eventlog.
